FAQs
Why did you become a Justice of the Peace?
I originally became a JP to officiate the wedding of some very dear friends of ours. I loved working with the couple on their ceremony planning, providing guidance, researching ideas, sharing resources and pulling together the details. The big day came and although I had no doubt I could do the ceremony but, to my surprise it all came so naturally to me. I knew from that day being a Justice of the Peace was something I was meant to do. The pride and honor I have from being part of a couple’s very special day is second to none.
What areas do you cover?
I am located in the heart of the White Mountains in NH's north country. However, I also cover the Monadnock region on a regular basis. But, I can cover most places around the state. At this time I can officiate ceremonies in New Hampshire and Maine.
Can you marry us at Bike Week in Laconia, NH, at ATV Fest or one of the beautiful riding location areas in the area?
Absolutely! I would be honored to. And, I ride! And, yes, I will send you a picture of my bike :)
What do you wear during our ceremony?
I will work with you to fit in with your wedding. I have things from casual to formal. I can work with most themes. If something special is needed we can discuss it.
We are just wanting to “make it legal” and not have a formal ceremony. Is this something you do?
It absolutely is. And, I am happy to do so. Please see my "Just the Basics" package. Although it is always a good idea to schedule ahead sometime it just is not not possible. I am often times available for last minute cermonies. Please contact me for availability.
Can we involve children in our ceremony?
Of course! I would be happy to describe to you numerous ways to involve children of different ages.
Do you perform ceremonies with pets involved in them?
Yes I do. And happy to do so. Let me know if you need to borrow one or two :)
We are wanting to do something unique and/or activity based. Are you open to that?
Absolutely! One thing I really looked forward to with becoming a JP was marrying people in places that were special to them. Bring your ideas to me and we will work to make it happen. Or, if you are looking for ideas I can point in the right direction. I am a relatively active person and would be honored to be part of your extra special day. Please see my "Adventure" package for details.
What do we need to do to get married in NH?
It's pretty simple actually. You need to get a Marriage License. Prior to your wedding day, you will both need to get your marriage license from any Town Clerk or Town Hall in New Hampshire (it does not necessarily have to be the town or city your are getting married in). Both parties must appear in person and sign the application. You will need to go together and bring proof of age as well as proof of any previous marriages ended by divorce or death.
Document Requirements -
1. Proof of identity and age - Birth certificate, Driver's License or Passport – required for each individual
2. Certified copy of a death certificate of former spouse, if applicable;
3. Certified copy of a final divorce decree, if applicable;
4. Certified copy of an annulment, if applicable.
Couples wishing to be married in NH may complete application regardless of residence. There is no waiting period. But, the license will expire after 90 days.
For more information please refer to www.sos.nh.gov
Please note that I cannot perform your ceremony without your marriage license given to me on the day of your wedding.
What happens after we get married? Do you give us a marriage certificate?
After the ceremony I will signed and stamp the marriage license. I then will return it to the Town Clerk in the town that you had it issued from. They then process it. You will need to make arrangements with them to get your final certificate and necessary copies.
